more  women in stem fields:

Women make up more than half the US population but only a quarter of the workforce in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) related fields. Why does this gap still exist? Do you think stereotypes about “what scientists are like” keep women from choosing STEM careers?

DIFCON 12, held in Spring of 2016 on the University at Buffalo campus, was an innovative series of twelve conversations led by UB faculty, who explored provocative topics with small groups of students each week.

These unique group discussions were meant to help initiate a change in the way university communities think and approach difficult conversations. This video consists of a series of interview excerpts conducted with students and faculty immediately following the “Why Aren’t there More Women in STEM Fields?” discussion.

Girls who code

Girls Who Code
believes to close the gender gap in technology, we have to inspire girls to pursue computer science by exposing them to real life and on screen role models.

They engage engineers, developers, executives, and entrepreneurs to teach and motivate the next generation. Their guest speakers, mentors, and instructors are leaders in their fields, working in positions our girls aspire to attain.

Stories from high school girls, recently graduated female computer scientists now working in industry, female technology CEOs, Stanford academics, and Silicon Valley venture capitalists, build momentum as she++: The Documentary accumulates facts and statistics, and most promisingly, personal stories.

This film will startle the world and inspire girls, young and old, to take the lack of a Y chromosome and make a girl's vision unique and useful in the world of code.
